Dark Mode Is Back: Lions Bring Out the Black Uniforms for Green Bay

Lions fans, you know what it means when the logo goes black.

Our Take: Uniforms don't win games, but a home crowd at Ford Field in the black alternates against Green Bay is about as good as a regular-season setting gets. Coming off the bye at 3-2, this is the perfect stage to start a division run.

On Friday night, the Lions swapped their social media profile pictures to an all-black logo with a Honolulu blue outline and posted a video captioned "dark mode activated," per Lions Wire. Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman notes the team has dropped that same hint before, and it has meant one thing: the Motor City Muscle uniforms are coming out.

Per Lions Wire, the set features a black jersey with Honolulu blue numbers outlined in silver, black pants and a matte Honolulu blue helmet with a black leaping Lion. Detroit last wore it at home on Nov. 23, 2025, a 34-27 overtime win over the Giants.

It doesn't stop there. Pride of Detroit reports the Lions have already announced they'll wear their new Rivalry uniforms the following week when they host Minnesota. That's two straight home division games in two different alternate looks.

What to watch: the Packers kick off at Ford Field on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 4:25 p.m. ET (2:25 p.m. MT) on Fox. Keep an eye on whether safety Brian Branch, who Pride of Detroit says is practicing within his return window, is activated in time to suit up in black.
