Gannon Knows the Lions' 32.8-Point Offense Burns You Either Way

By , LionsCountry ·

When the guy game-planning against you used to be your coordinator's boss sounds this impressed, that tells you everything about this Lions offense.

**Our Take:** Jonathan Gannon knows Drew Petzing better than anybody on that Green Bay staff, and he basically admitted there's no safe call against Detroit. Ford Field should be loud and confident Sunday.

Per the Detroit Lions' Tim Twentyman, Petzing was Gannon's offensive coordinator in Arizona the last three years when Gannon was head coach. Petzing's Detroit offense is tied with Buffalo for the most points per game (32.8) and ranks fourth in yards per game (393.8). "When you want to be aggressive, he burns you. When you want to be safe, he burns you," Gannon said, calling it "a big-time challenge."

On Jahmyr Gibbs, Gannon kept it simple: "Well, he's faster than everybody. He has elite vision." The 3-2 Lions are 2-0 at home, while the 4-2 Packers bring a three-game winning streak to Ford Field, per Packers On SI.

The same report says Micah Parsons won't play Sunday while he rehabs a torn ACL, Josh Jacobs' status is to be determined after coming off the Commissioner's exempt list, and Green Bay is the NFL's most-penalized team with 64 flags in six games. Packers coordinator Adam Stenavich called Detroit's defensive front "salty."

**What to watch:** Sunday's FOX Game of the Week at Ford Field, with the Lions coming off the bye. Watch whether Gannon dares Detroit to throw or stacks the box for Gibbs, because Petzing has burned teams both ways. And with the Packers this flag-happy, extra drives could pile up fast.
