Lions Add DT Taki Taimani to the Practice Squad and Cut WR Lawrence Keys
The Lions just reshuffled the practice squad. Detroit signed defensive tackle Taki Taimani and released wide receiver Lawrence Keys, per the Detroit Lions transactions page and AP (also Lions Wire and Pro Football Rumors).
Who Taimani is
Taimani is a 6-foot-1, 309-pound interior lineman who went undrafted out of Oregon in 2024 and spent two seasons with Minnesota. Lions Wire notes he has appeared in nine NFL games, all with the Vikings, and has four career tackles. He worked out at the Allen Park facility last week before the signing (SI Lions).
Why Keys is out
Keys, an undrafted Tulane product, was back on the practice squad after a UFL stint with the Houston Gamblers and an August injury settlement with Detroit. Lions Wire reports he returned to the PS in late September; Tuesday's move ends that second look.
Our Take: This is a clear priority call. With Aidan Keanaaina and Jeffrey M'ba already in the building, Detroit keeps stacking defensive-line depth on the practice squad and is willing to lose a return-specialist receiver to do it. Watch whether Taimani gets a game-day elevation when the interior rotation needs a body.
