Not Since 1933: Six Games In, the Lions Still Haven't Thrown an Interception

By , LionsCountry ·

Lions fans, go ahead and say it out loud: six games, zero interceptions.

Our Take: Ball security like this wins in November, and this offense is protecting the football better than any Detroit team in more than 90 years.

Here's the history. Per Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com, Sunday's 20-17 win over the Packers moved Detroit to 4-2 and 1-0 in the division, and it's the first time since 1933 the Lions haven't thrown an interception in their first six games. They're only the 10th team in league history that can say that. Jared Goff threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns with a 119.7 rating and now has 14 touchdown passes against zero picks.

It wasn't a perfect day. Yahoo Sports points out Goff was charged with a lost fumble on a botched exchange with center Cade Mays, so "no turnovers" needs an asterisk. But the passing game was humming: Jameson Williams caught five balls for 91 yards and both touchdowns, and Amon-Ra St. Brown added nine catches for 153 yards. On the other side, Twentyman counted 10 pressures for Aidan Hutchinson.

What to watch: the only unbeaten team left in the NFL comes to Ford Field on Sunday. Keep the clean sheet going, keep the pocket clean, and this streak becomes a statement.
